[It's probably taken a certain someone weeks to get a hold of contact numbers, but lo and behold, it's happened. Sorry Adia. You're going to get a message out of the blue from everyone's least favorite serial killer. And yes, the poor guy can't go two seconds without his voice filter.]
"...Hello? Did I get the right number?"
[What a nerd. The message machine clearly said who's voicemail this belongs to.]
"Adia! Um, Adia...it's Josh. The guy who runs the gameshow...Eh..." [Cue a short 30 second pause.] "I wanted to talk again, so someone from the Nexus message-board helped me find a way to get in touch with you." [Probably through questionable means, no doubt.]
"Oh yeah! The reason for this call...I wanted to show you something! Uh, I don't know if I can do it via this number...But it's really cool!"
[One last pause for dramatic effect.]
"Horses! Out in the wild! I'm on a trip and I saw them and they made me think of you! So yeah...anyway...If you want, I can probably show them to you via a video call..."
One of the last things Adia expects, when she sees the blinking message icon on her PINpoint, is the sound of Josh's voice to come through its small, tinny speaker. She should be more concerned about how he was able to get her contact information, but after the week she's had, she's grateful for the friendly contact.
She listens to the audio attachment once more before sending a text message in reply.
Hi, Josh. It's nice to hear from you. I can't do a video call with my PINpoint, but the next time I am in the Nexus, I could do a video call from one of the terminals. I am hoping to go there in a couple hours. Does that work for you?
((Hello! I can put up a new post in Adia's journal if you'd like to play the video chat off of that.))
[Maybe it's good (?) that someone who wasn't involved in Nexus LOL haydays is initiating the conversation. Or not, given his background, but he's being super nice and sounds genuinely happy to talk to Adia. So, when he gets the text, it's like watching a 4 year old find the perfect gift under the Christmas tree.
His text is written almost in the exact manner.]
yay! that would be great :D :D :D i wasn't too sure how communication works between worlds, so i'm happy the message got to you!
but yes, call or text me when you arrive! it's early morning here, so a few hours wait time isn't bad
She's a little leery of the "xoxo" at the bottom there, having recently been the unwitting target of a lovestruck alien, but she gives it a pass, chalking it up to Josh's slightly off-the-mark social skills. It sounds like he's really looking forward to talking to her, which is always flattering to her socially anxious self.
Great, I'll text you when I get there.
Once Adia is able to get to the Nexus, she sends Josh another message.
[Attached to the text is a picture of what appears to be a bottle of amber wine, with a hand-painted label. It has their names on it, the wedding month and year (because Cricket wasn't sure of the exact day of the wedding), and an image of orange tulips and butterflies. There's a ring of bright yellow blooms around the base of the bottle, and there's a box of three other bottles just like it behind it. Each label is slightly different, because he did them all by hand.]
It's dandelion wine. Came out nice and sweet. I will bring it next time you're in the Nexus.
It takes a little while for Adia to respond to the text because she wants to show Caspar the photo, and they're both currently working in their shared lab. She tells him that she needs his help getting something from the supply closet so they can have privacy. It's a flimsy excuse, but her co-workers don't notice. They assume she's dragging him off to make out or something. Those wacky newlyweds!
It's worth it, though, because Caspar agrees that it's a wonderful gift.
Thank you so much, Cricket! That was so thoughtful of you. I'll be in the Nexus later today, I can pick it up, then. Your sand globe is all fixed, I'll bring it with me.
[I can assure you, this is nothing bad or evil]

[Poor guy sounds truly alone right about now.]

[Because he's a bootlegger, really, not a vintner. But dandelion wine is a fine old rural tradition. He thinks they'll like it well enough.]
