"It was the same for my friend," Adia replies, surprised by the similarity. "She could call on her powers to see things, but sometimes there would be side effects... one of the times she helped me, she accidentally levitated a coffee table." She smiles, but there is a sadness in it. It has been a long time since she's seen her friend April. "She was a vampire, too, but I don't think that was related to her powers. What's your cousin like? I think you mentioned him to me once before."
It's not much of a success, to get him to admit that he's "a little more than mediocre" instead of "reasonably mediocre", but she'll take it. "You think so?" It's oddly flattering, although it sounds like being an empath comes with a price, not one she'd like to pay. She looks at him sympathetically, wishing that he didn't have to pay it, either. "I'm sorry if that happens to you... if that happened to you at all with my emotions. Is it ever overwhelming in the Nexus? Some of the people there have... um, strong personalities."
Now that she knows that he's an empath, she wonders if it's possible to project her hope for him a little harder, so that he knows she's being sincere. Seriously, how could anyone not like him? "That's sweet, that they care about him. How many daughters does he have?" She nearly suggests that Runa's father could become like a surrogate father for him, but that's an in-law dynamic she's only seen in the movies. Having no personal experience, she's reluctant to say anything. "Is he outgoing, too?"
