"Excuse me. Are you Adia Costas?"

Looking up from her microscope, Adia's gaze immediately fell on the tall, willowy Cylon standing next to her makeshift workstation. She was a Six, but not one that Adia recognized. "That's me." She smiled politely. "How can I help you, um...?"

The blonde quirked a smile. "I haven't picked a name yet. Six is fine."

"Oh, okay." It felt awkward to repeat her question, so instead she cleared the area next to her of water samples so that the other woman would have somewhere to sit. "Nice to meet you, Six."

Six's smile broadened. "Julia said that I could find you here," she remarked while sitting down. Despite her long limbs, she managed to look quite comfortable lounging on the small metal folding chair. "She's very fond of you, by the way. I hope she hasn't been bothering you? I know that our model can be a little overwhelming at times."

Adia shook her head. "No, no. She's been fine." Even if that self-assessment was surprisingly accurate. "She's a good friend."

"From what she's told me, it's not all that difficult to be friends with you." Despite the light-hearted tone, Six was giving her a rather keen stare. "I hope you'll forgive me, then, for skipping over any small talk and getting right to the point. The Five you knew as Caspar Millen is alive, and he's asking to see you."

Of all the things to hear. It was the unexpectedness of those words as much as their meaning that had her struggling to breathe, the air knocked out of her lungs, her mouth frozen open in a state of disbelief. "H-How...? The black hole, it --"

"He was on Galactica when it jumped," Six explained. "He boarded it with the Centurions and got shot."

"Shot?!" Finding her voice, she asked frantically, "How badly was he injured? Is he okay?"

Six waved a hand dismissively. "The bullet caught him in the side, but it didn't permanently damage any of his internal organs. Lucky bastard. He's been recovering on the basestar. We weren't sure what kind of reception he'd get with the humans, or even some of the other Cylons." She smiled slyly. "I take it from your concern that you'd like to see him again?"

Adia blushed vividly and dropped her gaze, suddenly reminded of the situation at hand. Only recently had she finally made peace with his death; was it worth it to re-open old wounds simply so she could see him again? Would it give her closure, or would it make things worse? "...I don't know. A lot has happened since the last time I saw him."

Six smiled, not unkindly. "He did something horrible to you, didn't he?" Adia looked up with a sharp inhale, but Six was quick to shake her head. "He didn't tell me what, but I was there when he resurrected. I'd never seen a Five cry before. He was inconsolable, he kept saying, 'She'll never forgive me.' I always wondered who he was talking about."

Adia placed a hand over her chest, her heart aching. She had never seen Caspar cry, either. But before she could say anything, Six sighed and got to her feet. "I understand if it's too much for you. A group of us are heading further into the wilderness; I'll take him with us if you'd rather not --"

"No!" Adia blushed again, but this time she did not look away. "No, I -- I want to see him. The sooner, the better. You can tell him that."

Six's smile returned. "If things don't work out, let me know. We're leaving tomorrow." She headed for the open tent flap, then paused and added, "You must be very special, Adia Costas, to make a Five care about anyone other than himself. I'm glad I got the chance to meet you. Take care."

With that, she was gone, leaving Adia alone with her water samples, her tardigrades and rotifers.

For once, she had absolutely zero interest in them.
