chiron_survivor: (tired of running)

The horse's nod brings a smile to Adia's face, whether coincidence or not. Naming him makes her feel like a piece of herself is with him. It's the closest she'll get to ever having a horse of her own.

Adia gets Shadow to start moving again -- a slow, steady walk -- secretly relieved that she dodged any social awkwardness. At least until Paladin asks her question. If her blush doesn't give her away, the slump of her shoulders will. She's embarrassed. But it's not in her lie, so after a moment's stalling, she replies. "Because of the Occupation, I don't have access to physical money. And what credits I do have, they're worthless here." A steady hand on the reins is the only thing keeping her from fidgeting self-consciously. "I didn't want you to feel like you had to pay for me."
